Accordingly, in An Giang, according to the update of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of IR 504 rice is at 7,750 – 7,900 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND/kg; OM 5451 remained around the mark of 7,750 – 8,000 VND/kg, up 200 VND/kg; price of OM 18 rice at 7,800 – 8,200 VND/kg, up 200 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 9 is priced at 7,800 – 8,200 VND/kg, an increase of 600 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice (dry) at 15,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg.

Particularly, Dai Thong 8 rice and Japanese rice were stable at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg.

For glutinous rice, prices fluctuated between Long An (fresh) and An Giang. Accordingly, Long An sticky rice (fresh) is at 7,200-7,500 VND/kg. While the price of fresh An Giang sticky rice decreased by 200 VND/kg to 6,300 – 6,400 VND/kg.

With rice, the price of raw rice and finished products fluctuated in opposite directions. Accordingly, raw rice increased by 50 VND/kg to 12,350 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of finished rice remained stable at 14,400 – 14,500 VND/kg.

For by-products, the price of IR 504 sheet increased by 100 VND/kg to 11,900 VND/kg; while the price of dried bran remained stable at 7,600 VND/kg.

According to traders, today the amount of rice is less, the wharfs are empty, and the warehouses are difficult to buy rice. Rice prices of all kinds were stable compared to the past few days.

In the rice market, rice transactions are more, mainly long-cut rice and autumn-winter rice. Most of the summer-autumn rice cut near the date has been staked in advance. Autumn-Winter rice continued to increase slightly. Accordingly, in many localities such as Soc Trang, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, An Giang, Bac Lieu… the price of IR50404 fluctuates around the mark of 7,800 – 7,900 VND/kg; OM380 ranges from 7,700 to 7,800; OM5451 8,000 – 8,100 VND/kg; OM18: 8,200 – 8,300 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 8,300 – 8,400 VND/kg; ST21 8,100 – 8,200 VND/kg.

In the rice export market, according to the Vietnam Food Association, at the end of the trading session on August 21, Vietnam’s export rice price increased by 5 – 10 USD/ton. Accordingly, the price of 5% broken rice was at 638 USD/ton, up 10 USD/ton; 25% broken rice at $623/ton, up $5/ton.

Along with the increase of Vietnamese rice, the price of Thai rice also increased by 10 USD/ton for 5% broken rice and 2 USD/ton for 25% broken rice. After adjustment, the price of 5% broken rice was at $628/ton; 25% broken rice at 563 USD/ton.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Director of Phuoc Thanh IV Production – Trading Co., Ltd said that the high export price of rice made customers hesitant when signing new contracts. Currently, Phuoc Thanh has new contracts in the Philippines market, but these are only small orders.
