Rice prices today July 22nd, 2023 in the Mekong Delta region continued the upward trend. Accordingly, at An Giang warehouse, the price of IR504 rice is being purchased by traders at 6,700 – 6,900 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND/kg.

With the remaining rice varieties, prices remained stable. Specifically, Dai fragrant 8 rice is at 6,900 – 7,100 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice ranges from 6,400 to 6,600 VND/kg; OM 18 rice price 6,600 – 6,800 VND/kg; Miss Hoa 9 costs 6,600 – 6,800 VND/kg; Japanese rice is also stable at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice (dry) at 13,000 VND/kg.

With sticky rice, Long An sticky rice (fresh) at 6,300 – 6,600 VND/kg; An Giang sticky rice (fresh) 6,000 – 6,300 VND/kg; AG (dry) sticky rice at 7,400 – 7,600 VND/kg; Long An sticky rice (dry) costs 7,700 – 7,900 VND/kg.

With rice, the price of raw materials and finished products turned to decrease. Accordingly, IR 504 raw rice is at 10.20 – 10,250 VND/kg, down 50 VND/kg. Finished rice is at 11,650 – 11,700 VND/kg, down 50 VND/kg.

For by-products, the price of IR 504 sheet ranges from 9,700 to 9,800 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of dried bran is 7,350 VND/kg.

According to traders, now the amount of rice is less than yesterday, the market rice transaction is quiet. Rice prices tend to increase. Demand to buy a lot for long-cut rice.

At retail markets, the price of rice is usually 11,500 – 12,500 VND/kg; Intestinal sticky rice remained stable at 14,000 – 16,000 VND/kg. Nang Nhen rice is priced at 22,000 VND/kg. Long grain Thai fragrant rice maintains 18,000 – 19,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice costs 15,000 – 16,000 VND/kg.

Huong Lai rice costs 19,000 VND/kg; Common white rice costs 14,500 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice costs 18,500 VND/kg; Soc rice usually fluctuates from 14,000 to 15,000 VND/kg.

Soc Thai rice stable price 18,000; Taiwanese fragrant rice costs 20,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice costs 22,000 VND/kg and bran remains at 8,500 – 9,000 VND/kg.

In the export market, the export price of rice slowed down after an upward correction. Specifically, 5% broken rice traded at 533 USD/ton; 25% broken rice at 513 USD/ton.

The world rice market is greatly affected by the Indian government’s decision to ban rice exports.

Currently, businesses and traders in the region promote purchasing activities to ensure supply under export contracts. However, the situation of rice prices is increasing, so the amount of rice purchased in the warehouses of enterprises is relatively small. Moreover, before the positive signs from rice exports, the price of rice in the region increased, leading to an increase in domestic rice prices. Difficult pressure for exporters at this time when there are not enough sources of goods in stock to meet the pre-signed contracts.

Many businesses said that the price of some types of rice such as Dai Thom 8, OM 18, IR 50404 currently increased by an average of 1,000 VND/kg. IR 50404 rice is running out of supply, Dai Thom 8 rice wholesales at agents 13,000-13,500 VND/kg, retail consumption is 14,000-14,500 VND/kg. Although the harvest season is coming, it is expected that the price of rice will fluctuate at a high level and it is difficult to fall below 6,500 VND/kg.
